A WORD FROM THE RECTOR

Reitor Clemente Ivo JuliattoThe Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (PUCPR) is one of the largest private universities in the State of Paraná. With headquarters in Curitiba, PUCPR offers courses at five different campuses located in the cities of Curitiba, São José dos Pinhais, Toledo, Londrina and Maringá.

The university, before it can be defined as a Catholic or Marist school, should be seen as a humane organization.  And, as such, it is basically a group of people with a common objective.  Thus, the institution ceases to be a mere abstraction.  In practice, it is a regular project, a collective undertaking by a group of people.

The dream of every university must be that of becoming an institution with recognized quality – a center of excellence.
Because of that, search for excellence is a goal that is continuously sought by all serious, responsible and perfectionist people and institutions.

A high-quality university is one that is able to attain and realize its goals.  The more thoroughly it achieves its objectives and the more completely it fulfills its mission, the more quality it will be able to incorporate.

Administration is the coordination of the collective efforts of people and of institutional resources available for achieving those goals.  In an institution, nothing happens spontaneously, out of luck, out of the blue, or by chance.
Everything is a result of effort, a lot of effort.

Rector Clemente Ivo Juliatto
